FOUNDATIONAL PRINCIPLE


From Jubilees 21:6:

"And eat no blood at all of animals or cattle, or of any bird which flies in the heaven."

From Jubilees 21:18:

"And do not eat any blood for it is the soul; eat no blood whatever."


I. ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENT FOR ALL OFFERINGS AND FOODS


SALT - THE COVENANT REQUIREMENT


From Jubilees 21:11:

"And on all thy oblations thou shalt strew salt, and let not the salt of the covenant be lacking in all thy oblations before the Lord."

Usage:

  • Required on ALL offerings.

  • Must be present in all food preparations for sacred feasts.

  • Represents the eternal covenant.

  • Symbol of preservation and purity.



II. SACRED WOODS FOR SACRIFICES AND ALTAR


From Jubilees 21:12-14:


APPROVED WOODS ONLY


These are the ONLY woods permitted for use on the altar and for sacrifices:


  1. Cypress - Strong, fragrant wood.

  2. Bay - Aromatic, pleasant-smelling.

  3. Almond - Sweet-scented, symbolizing watchfulness.

  4. Fir - Tall, straight, fragrant.

  5. Pine - Evergreen, resinous, aromatic.

  6. Cedar - Noble, durable, aromatic.

  7. Savin - Juniper family, aromatic.

  8. Fig - Fruit-bearing, symbolic wood.

  9. Olive - Sacred oil-producing tree.

10. Myrrh - Precious, aromatic resin.

11. Laurel - Noble, aromatic.

12. Aspalathus - Fragrant, spiny shrub.


CRITICAL REQUIREMENTS FOR WOOD


From Jubilees 21:13:

  • Must be tested as to appearance.

  • NOT split or dark wood.

  • Must be hard and clean.

  • Without fault.

  • Sound and new growth.

  • NOT old wood (fragrance is gone).


Reason: "For the fragrance is dispersed, and the smell of its fragrance goes not up to heaven" (Jubilees 21:14).



III. CLEAN MEATS FOR PEACE OFFERINGS


ACCEPTABLE PEACE OFFERINGS


From Jubilees 21:7-10:


Proper Preparation:

  1. Slay the victim as an acceptable peace offering.

  2. Pour out its blood upon the altar.

  3. Offer the fat on the altar with fine flour.

  4. Meat offering mingled with oil.

  5. Drink offering - all together on the altar of burnt offering.


FAT PORTIONS TO OFFER


From Jubilees 21:8:

  • Fat on the belly.

  • All fat on the inwards.

  • Two kidneys.

  • All fat upon the kidneys.

  • Fat upon the loins.

  • Liver (remove with kidneys).


Purpose: "A sweet savour acceptable before the Lord, with its meat-offering and with its drink-offering, for a sweet savour, the bread of the offering unto the Lord."


TIME LIMITS FOR CONSUMPTION


From Jubilees 21:10:

  • Eat its meat on that day (Day 1).

  • And on the second day (Day 2).

  • Let not the sun on the second day go down upon it till it is eaten.

  • NOTHING LEFT for the third day.


Warning: "For it is not acceptable [for it is not approved] and let it no longer be eaten, and all who eat thereof will bring sin upon themselves."



IV. CLEAN ANIMALS, BIRDS, AND FISH


GENERAL PRINCIPLES FROM LEVITICUS


Based on Leviticus 11-15 (Lashawam-Qadash), clean animals must meet specific criteria:


CLEAN LAND ANIMALS:

Requirements:

  • Must have split hooves (divided hoof).

  • Must chew the cud (ruminant).

  • Both requirements MUST be met.


Examples of Clean Animals:

  • Cattle (bulls, cows, oxen).

  • Sheep.

  • Goats.

  • Deer.

  • Antelope.

  • Gazelle.

  • Buffalo.


CLEAN BIRDS:

General Principle: Birds that are not birds of prey and do not eat carrion.


Examples of Clean Birds:

  • Chicken.

  • Turkey.

  • Duck.

  • Goose.

  • Dove.

  • Pigeon.

  • Quail.

  • Pheasant.

  • Partridge.


CLEAN FISH AND WATER CREATURES:

Requirements:

  • Must have both fins AND scales.

  • Both requirements MUST be met.


Examples of Clean Fish:

  • Salmon.

  • Trout.

  • Bass.

  • Cod.

  • Tuna.

  • Perch.

  • Carp.

  • Tilapia.



V. CLEAN AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTS


GRAINS AND FLOUR


From Jubilees 21:7, 9:

  • Fine flour - for meal offerings.

  • Bread - the bread of offering.


Clean Grains:

  • Wheat.

  • Barley.

  • Spelt.

  • Millet.

  • Rye.


FRUITS


Referenced in Scripture:

  • Figs (mentioned as wood source and food).

  • Olives (for oil and eating).

  • Almonds (mentioned as wood and fruit).

  • Grapes (for wine offerings).


Other Clean Fruits:

  • Dates.

  • Pomegranates.

  • Apples.

  • Pears.

  • All tree fruits.

  • All vine fruits.


VEGETABLES


All vegetables from the ground are clean:

  • Beans and legumes.

  • Lentils.

  • Peas.

  • Cucumbers.

  • Squash.

  • Melons.

  • Leafy greens.

  • Root vegetables (carrots, turnips, beets, etc.).

  • Onions, garlic, leeks.



VI. CLEAN OILS


PRIMARY OIL


Olive Oil - The sacred oil.

  • Used for anointing.

  • Used in meal offerings.

  • Mixed with fine flour.

  • Pure, first-pressed preferred.


OTHER ACCEPTABLE OILS


  • Sesame oil.

  • Nut oils (from clean nuts).

  • Seed oils (from clean seeds).



VII. CLEAN HERBS AND SPICES


AROMATIC HERBS FOR OFFERINGS


From Jubilees 3:27 (Adam's offering):

  • Frankincense - Sweet aromatic resin.

  • Galbanum - Aromatic gum resin.

  • Stacte - Aromatic oil/resin.

  • Spices - Various aromatic spices.


CULINARY AND MEDICINAL HERBS


All herbs growing from the earth are clean:


Aromatic Herbs:

  • Mint.

  • Dill.

  • Cumin.

  • Coriander.

  • Parsley.

  • Cilantro.

  • Basil.

  • Oregano.

  • Thyme.

  • Rosemary.

  • Sage.

  • Marjoram.


Healing Herbs:

  • Hyssop (for purification).

  • Myrrh (aromatic and medicinal).

  • Aloe.

  • Rue.

  • Bay leaves.


Seasoning Spices:

  • Black pepper.

  • Cinnamon.

  • Cassia.

  • Ginger.

  • Turmeric.

  • Cardamom.

  • Cloves.

  • Nutmeg.

  • Saffron.



VIII. CLEAN DRINKS


WATER

  • Pure, clean water.

  • Spring water.

  • Well water.

  • Rainwater (collected clean).


WINE AND FERMENTED DRINKS


From Jubilees 21:7, 9:

  • Drink offerings are mentioned with meal offerings.

  • Wine from grapes (for libations and consumption).


Requirements:

  • Made from clean fruits (grapes, dates, pomegranates).

  • Properly fermented.

  • Used in moderation.

  • Part of sacred meal offerings.


MILK AND DAIRY


From Clean Animals:

  • Milk from cows, goats, sheep.

  • Cheese from clean animal milk.

  • Butter/clarified butter (ghee).

  • Yogurt/cultured milk.


Note: Traditional separation of milk and meat during preparation.


FRUIT JUICES


  • Grape juice (unfermented wine).

  • Pomegranate juice.

  • Date juice.

  • Apple juice.

  • All juices from clean fruits.


HERBAL TEAS AND INFUSIONS


  • Mint tea.

  • Chamomile tea.

  • Sage tea.

  • Thyme tea.

  • Any infusion from clean herbs.



IX. CLEAN NUTS AND SEEDS


NUTS

  • Almonds.

  • Walnuts.

  • Pistachios.

  • Pine nuts.

  • Chestnuts.

  • Hazelnuts.


SEEDS

  • Sesame seeds.

  • Sunflower seeds.

  • Pumpkin seeds.

  • Flax seeds.

  • Chia seeds.



X. SWEETENERS


NATURAL SWEETENERS


From Clean Sources:

  • Honey - Pure bee honey.

  • Date honey - Concentrated date syrup.

  • Grape honey - Concentrated grape must.

  • Fig honey - Concentrated fig syrup.



XI. ABSOLUTELY FORBIDDEN FOODS


BLOOD - STRICTLY PROHIBITED


From Jubilees 21:6, 18:

"And eat no blood at all of animals or cattle, or of any bird which flies in the heaven."
"And do not eat any blood for it is the soul; eat no blood whatever."

This Includes:

  • No blood in any form.

  • No rare meat with blood.

  • No blood puddings or sausages.

  • Meat must be properly drained.


UNCLEAN ANIMALS


From Leviticus 11:

  • Pigs/swine/pork (any form).

  • Rabbits/hares.

  • Camels.

  • Horses.

  • Dogs.

  • Cats.

  • Rodents.


UNCLEAN BIRDS

  • Eagles, hawks, vultures (birds of prey).

  • Owls, ravens, crows (scavengers).

  • Bats.

  • Ostriches.

  • Pelicans.

  • Storks.

  • Herons.


UNCLEAN WATER CREATURES

  • Shellfish (shrimp, crab, lobster, crayfish).

  • Mollusks (oysters, clams, mussels, scallops).

  • Eels.

  • Catfish (no scales).

  • Sharks.

  • Whales, dolphins (sea mammals).

  • Octopus, squid.


UNCLEAN INSECTS

  • All insects EXCEPT certain locusts and grasshoppers.

  • Spiders.

  • Scorpions.


UNCLEAN REPTILES

  • Snakes.

  • Lizards.

  • Alligators, crocodiles.

  • Turtles, tortoises.

  • Frogs.



XII. CLEANLINESS AND PURIFICATION


PERSONAL CLEANLINESS REQUIRED


From Jubilees 21:16:

"And at all times be clean in thy body, and wash thyself with water before thou approachest to offer on the altar, and wash thy hands and thy feet before thou drawest near to the altar; and when thou art done sacrificing, wash again thy hands and thy feet."

Requirements:

  • Wash body with water before approaching offerings.

  • Wash hands and feet before drawing near to altar.

  • Wash hands and feet again after sacrificing.

  • No blood upon clothes or person.


FOOD PREPARATION CLEANLINESS


Standards:

  • Clean utensils and vessels.

  • Clean preparation surfaces.

  • Proper washing of all vegetables and fruits.

  • Clean water for cooking.

  • Separation of clean from unclean.



XIII. SPECIAL FEAST DAY GUIDELINES


FOR THE FEAST OF DEDICATION


Recommended Foods:

  • Roasted meats from clean animals (lamb, beef, goat).

  • Fresh bread with salt.

  • Olive oil for dipping and cooking.

  • Fresh vegetables and herbs.

  • Fruits in season.

  • Wine for celebration (in moderation).

  • Honey cakes and sweet breads.

  • Nuts and dried fruits.


FEAST PREPARATION


Remember:

  1. All offerings must include salt (covenant requirement).

  2. No blood in any food.

  3. Meat consumed within proper time (1-2 days).

  4. Maintain personal cleanliness.

  5. Use only approved woods if making fire offerings.

  6. Give thanks to Yahawah for all provisions.



XIV. SPIRITUAL SIGNIFICANCE


THE MEANING OF CLEAN FOODS


From Jubilees 21:23-25:

"Turn away from all their deeds and all their uncleanness, And observe the ordinance of the Most High God, And do His will and be upright in all things. And He will bless thee in all thy deeds, And will raise up from thee a plant of righteousness through all the earth, throughout all generations of the earth, And my name and thy name shall not be forgotten under heaven for ever."

PURPOSE OF DIETARY LAWS


  1. Holiness and Separation

  2. To be set apart unto Yahawah.

  3. To be distinct from other nations.

  4. To demonstrate obedience.


  5. Physical Health

  6. Clean animals provide safe nutrition.

  7. Proper preparation prevents disease.

  8. Avoiding blood prevents contamination.


  9. Spiritual Purity

  10. Obedience brings blessing.

  11. Clean eating maintains covenant relationship.

  12. Reflects internal spiritual state.

  14. Reminds of Yahawah's sovereignty.

BEFORE THE FEAST


Prayer of Thanksgiving:

"Blessed are You, Yahawah AhlahYama, Creator of the universe, who has given us clean foods to sustain our bodies and commanded us to be holy as You are holy. We give thanks for Your provision and for the Feast of Dedication, remembering Your faithfulness to our fathers and Your continued presence with us. May this feast bring honor to Your name. Amen."

AFTER THE FEAST


Prayer of Gratitude:

"We thank You, Yahawah, for the bounty of Your table and the joy of this sacred feast. As we have been physically nourished, may we also grow in spiritual strength and devotion to Your commandments. Blessed be Your name forever. Amen."


CONCLUSION


The dietary laws given by Yahawah are not burdensome restrictions but loving guidelines for health, holiness, and happiness. By observing these clean food laws during the Feast of Dedication and throughout the year, the Twelve Families of Yasharahlah demonstrate their covenant relationship with Yahawah and maintain their distinct identity as His chosen people.


Remember the words of Jubilees 21:24:

"And He will bless thee in all thy deeds, And will raise up from thee a plant of righteousness through all the earth, throughout all generations of the earth, And my name and thy name shall not be forgotten under heaven for ever."
